Thinking back of my journey of learning Japanese, I actually spent a lot of time on it!! Like, when I was in junior high, my attention was all on learning this language... I think I was lucky to have best friends who share the same interest with me, on learning Japanese, too!!

But I have a (quite) funny story to share here:
When I was little, my mom used to have this colleague who works in the same place as my mom does, as the Chinese teacher in a kindergarten, apparently this colleague of hers came from the same country too, Taiwan!!! Both my mom and her, they have a daughter at the same age, which was myself and (let's call her) "Y". "Y" and I, we were in different primary schools, but we ended up in the same secondary and high school...
I remember my mom used to compare my results at school FOREVER with this girl "Y" and I almost hated this girl because I thought all she knew was studying studying studying... Instead, although my results were not as high as hers, I made myself be better than her in many ways like learning Japanese, learning music, read more books to gain knowledge, etc...
By the time we reached the age to get ready for university, "Y" eventually dropped herself out of the foundation course in Taiwan we went together, went back to Malaysia for a short foundation course, and came back to Taiwan again for the foundation course... Instead, I got into a national school in Taiwan in year 2012. Recently, I heard that "Y" got into a medical course in a medical college in Taipei, in year 2014. Which means, well, she is a Freshmen when I am already a Junior.
Y'know, for all these time in my life, I tried to prove to my mom that even though I couldn't achieve really high results in my tests, I made myself worth it for learning multi-languages... For all these time in my life, I tried to win someone who, well, isn't that "smooth" in her higher education... Suddenly, I felt so empty and so satisfied at the same time. (Ironic!!!!)
I just want to say that, despite hating this girl for so many years, I think I need to thank her for making me who I am today. Always do your best. What you plant now, you will reap later.
Turn anger into motivation.
