Not trying to judge, but I am now kinda sick with most of the people who post statuses on the Occupy movement in Taiwan. It’s not that I don’t care about Taiwan, nor do I try to be ignorant, judgmental or stuff, but it just makes me sick logging into Facebook and see people sharing almost the same posts, the same links, the same videos… I makes me feel even sicker when I see many ignorant people posting things about this trade deal issue just to get Facebook likes. Sometimes I wonder if they really understand about this trade deal?
It took me one whole day to understand the whole issue and the reason the President made this decision to this agreement. What has gone wrong here is the process leading to this deal, where this whole thing was done under table (Correct me if I am wrong), and that this trade deal struck with China threatens the economic as well as political dominance from across the Taiwan Strait. What people are fighting for is not about people from China “snatching away” Taiwan’s economy, but about democracy. They declare a formal way for this agreement to be done.
I am half Taiwanese and I love Taiwan, and to be honest, the reason I came here is because I look up to the democracy of this country compared to Malaysia. So well done to my Taiwanese friends who stood up for their country. And to those ignorant people out there trying to tell me to GET BACK TO MALAYSIA, just GTFO.
